The politics of Patigi Local Government Area has always been anchored on mutual respect, equity, and a rotational arrangement that guarantees fairness among its three constituent districts: Patigi, Lade, and Kpata. This unwritten brotherhood has kept the peace and ensured that no district feels permanently sidelined in the distribution of selective and elective offices.

Today, that foundation of trust is being tested.

The Senatorial Ticket: A Trap Against Lade and Kpata?

The current zoning of the 2027 Senatorial ticket to Patigi District is not an act of equity — it is a trap designed to silence the remaining two districts, Lade and Kpata, for years to come.

Here is why:

1. The 2027 Rotation Imbalance
By the agreed rotational formula in Patigi LGA, all selective and elective positions in Lade District for the 2027 election cycle will be contested and effectively conceded to Kpata District. This is part of the long-standing arrangement to balance power.

2. House of Assembly Already Shifted
The House of Assembly seat, which was held by Kpata District, has now been zoned to Patigi District. This was demonstrated on Patigi LGA APC Chairman Kpata and has already gained in the current rotation.

3. Where Does That Leave Lade?
If the Senatorial ticket also remains in Patigi District, then Lade District will be left with no major selective or elective office in this entire cycle.

Nothing. This is the height of marginalisation a complete political lockout of an entire district.

Equity, Fairness, and Justice Demand Better

This is not just politics; it is about justice. For equity and fairness, the Senatorial ticket must be reserved for Lade District in this dispensation. If not, we are institutionalising a system where one district dominates while the others are reduced to spectators.

Look ahead to 2035: If the House of Representatives is again zoned to Patigi LGA, history shows Patigi District will contest it without a second thought — just as they are doing now with the Senate seat. Where is the brotherhood in that? Where is the equity?

A Call to Action

My good people of Lade and Kpata Districts, the time for silence is over. If we do not speak up now, we will have no moral right to complain when we are completely erased from the political map of Patigi LGA.

This is a breach of trust. This is a betrayal of brotherhood.

We must rise, engage, and demand that the rotational arrangement be respected in full not in parts. Lade District must not be sacrificed on the altar of political convenience.

The choice is clear: We either get it right now, or we forever remain silent.

Signed,
A Concerned Friend of Lade and Kpata District
