The Special Adviser on Political Matters to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Hon. Suleiman Abubakar, has announced a cash empowerment initiative for loyalists of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Hakeem Lawal, with selected beneficiaries expected to receive ₦5,000 each.

The announcement was made during a solidarity visit to Lawal’s political associates at Alabi Alasa House in the Idiape area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Lawal, son of the late former Kwara State Governor, Mohammed Lawal, is a prominent political figure in the state.Speaking during the gathering, Abubakar said the initiative was intended to provide financial support to members of the political group, explaining that beneficiaries would be selected in batches to ensure that others also had opportunities to benefit. He urged the organisers to maintain proper records of beneficiaries to avoid repeated selections and ensure fairness in subsequent distributions.

“We understand that God’s favour cannot reach everyone at the same time. Those who benefit today will have their names properly documented by the organisers so that, whenever another opportunity comes, a different set of people will be considered,” he said.

According to him, the arrangement would ensure that members who were not selected in the first round could benefit from subsequent interventions.

“For today, 10 men will receive ₦5,000 each. I will hand over the sum of ₦100,000 to the organisers.

“I would also like the secretary to prepare a list of the beneficiaries’ names. I will simply hand over the money, and the organisers can distribute ₦5,000 to each person as their names are called,” Abubakar stated.

The governor’s aide, however, did not explain how the proposed ₦100,000 would be distributed beyond the initial 10 beneficiaries, whose allocations would amount to ₦50,000.

He also did not disclose the total number of people expected to benefit from the initiative or whether the exercise would be extended to other political groups.

The development comes amid ongoing political consultations and realignments in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political actors intensify engagements with their supporters and grassroots structures.
