Eighteen-year-old Aisanu Nura has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly committing culpable homicide against another teenager, 17-year-old Abdullahi Muhammad.
According to a statement signed by SP Nafiu Habib, the Police Public Relations Officer, the police have begun an investigation into this case following a tragic incident reported in Kari Village, located in the Darazo Local Government Area of the state.
On May 24, 2026, around 4:15 PM, the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters received a report indicating that Abdullahi Muhammad, a resident of Kari Village, had drowned in the Kari River under circumstances that suggest involvement by Aisanu Nura, who lives in the same area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the victim to the river and drowned him. Darazo Division operatives responded promptly to the scene, arrested the suspect, and initiated an investigation.As of the time of this report on Wednesday, the body of the deceased has not yet been recovered, and search efforts are ongoing.
The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for a thorough and detailed investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the investigation be conducted professionally and diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident. He assured the public that justice will be served according to the law, and anyone found culpable will face prosecution.
The Command also urged members of the public, especially parents and guardians, to closely supervise teenagers and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
