Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has reaffirmed strong political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, citing what he described as unprecedented federal attention and appointments for the state.
Speaking on Friday during the flag-off of the mobilisation funds for the reconstruction of the burnt section of Sokoto Central Market at the Government House, Sokoto, Wamakko commended the Tinubu administration for releasing statutory allocations to states without delay and for strengthening sub-national governance.
He noted that Sokoto had benefited from key federal appointments under the current administration, describing the gesture as “fair and inclusive” and a significant departure from past experiences.
Wamakko urged residents to acknowledge and reciprocate the President’s support, insisting that the state’s political leadership remains firmly aligned with his policies and programmes.
The APC leader also praised Governor Ahmad Aliyu for what he called “visible and impactful” developmental projects across the state, especially in infrastructure and economic renewal.

Friday’s event drew government officials, party leaders, traditional rulers, market leaders and other stakeholders, who expressed confidence that the reconstruction of the market would boost commerce and restore livelihoods.
