Aspirants for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election in Gombe State are to pay N4 million to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a pre-qualification fee.
The money covers the Expression of Interest Form (N1m) and Nomination Form (N3m).
Similarly, aspirants for the recently restored four State House of Assembly seats in Delta and Kogi States are to pay N3m each, covering the expression of interest form and nomination form.
Three of the seats are in Delta State – Abraka, Isoko-North II and Ughelli-South II State Constituencies.

In Kogi, there is one – Yagba-West II State Constituency.
According to the National Organising Secretary (NOS) of the PDP, Hon Umar Nature, the four “previously suppressed” constituencies were recently restored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a development that necessitated the conduct of primary elections and elections to fill the seats.
Aside from the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election in Gombe State, there are other scheduled bye-elections in Bauchi (Desina and Sakwa State Constituencies); Delta (Udu State Constituency); and Kano (Dawakin Kudu State Constituency).
The timetable of activities released by the NOS indicated that primaries for all elections will take place on Sunday, 23 August, while election appeals will be heard on 24 August.
As for the four restored constituencies, recall that INEC restored Abraka, Isoko-North II and Ughelli-South II in Delta State, as well as Yagba-West II in Kogi State, after court judgments ordered their reinstatement.
The dispute dates back to a 1999 delimitation exercise that merged or suppressed some double-member arrangements, which voters in the affected areas say left them underrepresented for years.
In Delta, the controversy is strongest in Abraka, Isoko-North II and Ughelli-South II, as residents argue the constituencies had long existed as distinct legislative units before being folded into single seats.
Voters in the affected areas view the restoration as a correction of the said political imbalance, especially in Ughelli-South II, which had remained a point of grievance for decades.
In Kogi, Yagba-West II was also among the suppressed constituencies now brought back under the same court-backed process.
INEC began implementing the restoration on 1 August 2026 in Delta, and later publicly announced the broader four-constituency restoration by mid-August 2026.
The commission also fixed 21 to 25 August 2026 for party primaries for the restored constituencies.
