Two months after the abduction of a former Customs boss, Emmanuel Owolabi, at his country home in Ora-Igbomina, a boundary community between Osun and Kwara states, two other residents of the town have reportedly been abducted by armed men who invaded the community late on Sunday night.

The victims, Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adeyeye, were abducted from a private residence along Aran-Orin Road, Papa, Ora-Igbomina.

According to a resident, who preferred to remain anonymous while speaking with journalists, the victims were abducted around 11:30 p.m. by gunmen suspected to be bandits.

“The victims were abducted around 11:30 p.m. by gunmen suspected to be bandits, who shot into the air before dragging them into the bush,” the source said.

“I heard gunshots around 11:30 p.m.

The abductors went into a house along Aran-Orin Road and picked up the two men. Some people ran after the perpetrators, but they could not follow them into the bush. The abductors are suspected bandits.”

When contacted for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command had commenced a search-and-rescue operation to free the victims. He explained that the incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday.

“Our men had gone on patrol but returned to their base when the rain started. It was during that period that the perpetrators carried out the act,” he said.
