The assailants, said to be armed with sticks and cutlasses, allegedly attacked the victims, inflicted injuries on them, and forcefully seized their motorcycle before escaping from the scene.

Following a distress report, security operatives launched a coordinated manhunt that led to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle and the arrest of four suspects identified as Umaru Haruna, Habibu Kale, Kire Yelwa, and Iliyasu Gambo.

Police investigations revealed that the four suspects allegedly worked together during the robbery operation.

However, detectives also uncovered the involvement of another suspect identified simply as Sumo, who is believed to be the gang leader and is currently on the run.

Ejire-Adeyemi said intelligence gathered during the investigation indicated that the fleeing suspect may still be in possession of weapons used by the gang.

She noted that tactical teams have intensified efforts to track down and arrest the suspect while also working to recover the gang’s weapons.
