The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has facilitated a fresh ₦3 billion federal allocation for the continuation of work on the Afon–Aboto–Odo-Ode–Oyo Boundary Road in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The Executive Assistant to the Senator, Alabi Abdulkareem, disclosed this while featuring on Oro Ilu, a popular flagship programme on Sobi FM, Ilorin.

According to Abdulkareem, the road project has been captured in the 2026 Federal Government budget with an allocation of ₦3 billion to enable the resumption and continuation of construction work on the important route.

He explained that although the ₦3 billion allocation falls short of the total amount required for the complete delivery of the project, the intervention would take construction to an appreciable level and significantly improve mobility for residents, motorists and other road users along the axis.

Abdulkareem expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, for their intervention and commitment towards improving federal road infrastructure in Kwara State.

He also called on residents and stakeholders across Asa Local Government Area to join hands in supporting and praying for the successful execution of the project.

According to him, the appeal has become necessary in view of previous instances where projects facilitated by Senator Mustapha for communities within the senatorial district encountered setbacks that affected their execution.

Abdulkareem therefore urged community leaders, political stakeholders, traditional institutions, youths and residents of the affected communities to regard the road project as a collective asset whose successful delivery should rise above political considerations.

He stressed that all hands must be on deck to ensure that nothing is allowed to sabotage, frustrate or unnecessarily delay the execution of the project.

“The most important thing now is to ensure that this project succeeds. It belongs to the people of Asa and will ultimately benefit our communities, businesses and everyone who uses that axis. We must all support it and pray for its successful execution,” Abdulkareem said.
