Popular comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, better known as DeeOne, has officially stepped into the political arena after emerging as the candidate of the BOOT Party for the Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The entertainer secured the party’s ticket after winning the primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections, setting the stage for his bid to represent the constituency at the state legislature.
Announcing the development on Wednesday night, DeeOne expressed gratitude to members of the BOOT Party for entrusting him with the opportunity to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election.
Taking to his Instagram page, the comedian thanked party supporters for their confidence in his leadership and promised to prioritise service over power if elected.
“I want to thank my party, BOOT Party, for the confidence in voting for me to emerge winner of the primary election for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I,” he wrote.
Addressing residents of the constituency, he added: “Come 2027, by the grace of God, I will be your worker and not your boss.”
DeeOne’s emergence marks a major shift in his career from entertainment to public service, joining the growing list of Nigerian celebrities seeking political offices across the country.
With the 2027 elections drawing closer, political observers will be watching closely to see whether the comedian can convert his popularity into electoral success in one of Lagos State’s rapidly developing constituencies.
