The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Kosisochukwu Chukwuekenyem, in connection with threats to bomb some schools in the state, including Avi-Cenna and Grange schools.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday, according to the police, following reports of threatening messages sent to the affected schools, which prompted their temporary closure as a precautionary measure.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspect had admitted to sending the messages used to issue the bomb threats.
“He has been arrested and has confessed to being the owner of the phone number from which the threatening messages were sent,” Adebisi said.

She, however, noted that the suspect is yet to disclose his motive, adding that investigators are still working to establish whether he acted alone or had any accomplices.
“As of now, he has not explained the reason behind the threats. The investigation is ongoing. We have confirmed his identity and that the WhatsApp number belongs to him, but we are still trying to understand what prompted his actions,” she added.
The police spokesperson also revealed that the suspect’s family had been contacted, with his father reportedly describing him as troublesome over the years. She stressed, however, that further findings would be made public as investigations continue.
The bomb threats had caused panic among parents and school authorities, leading to the temporary shutdown of Grange and Avi-Cenna schools in Lagos as security agencies moved to assess the situation.
