Excitement is building ahead of the 2025 Ogun SWAN Security Cup as the group stage draws were conducted on Friday, setting the stage for another keenly contested tournament.
Once again, security agencies in the state will trade their uniforms for football boots, showcasing grit, teamwork, and sporting rivalry on the pitch.
In Group A, 2023 champions Nigeria Police Force headline a tough pool that also includes the Amotekun Corps, Fire Service, and inaugural winners, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Group B promises equal fireworks, with defending champions Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) squaring up against the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCOS), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Speaking after the draws, Chairman of Ogun SWAN, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, hailed the commitment of the agencies, stressing that the tournament transcends competition.
“This event goes beyond football. It is about unity, camaraderie, fitness, and building lasting bonds among our security operatives,” he said.
Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Mr. Bayo Adegboyega, assured that this year’s edition would be the best yet, while urging stakeholders to rally behind the competition.
The 2025 Ogun SWAN Security Cup officially kicks off on October 10 at the M.K.O. Abiola Sports Complex, Kuto, Abeokuta.
