The General Manager of the Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation (KWBC), Kayode Aremu, has reaffirmed the station’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and peaceful coexistence across Kwara State through strategic partnerships with key stakeholders.
Aremu made this known on Tuesday while hosting the leadership of the Hijrah Islamic Organisation at the corporation’s headquarters in Ilorin.
Speaking during the visit, the KWBC boss described the state-owned media outfit as a vital platform for fostering religious tolerance and unity among residents of different faiths.
He noted that the annual Hijrah celebration remains one of the most important events in the Islamic calendar, stressing the need to educate younger generations about its historical significance and enduring values.

According to him, strengthening mutual understanding among people of diverse religious backgrounds is crucial to maintaining peace and driving sustainable development in the state.
“The media has a critical role to play in promoting unity and educating citizens on values that encourage peaceful coexistence,” Aremu said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Hijrah Islamic Organisation in Kwara State, Raheem Bio, disclosed that the organisation was established in 1980 to create awareness about the Islamic calendar and encourage its adoption among Muslims.
Bio explained that the group currently has members across all 16 local government areas of the state.
He also paid tribute to the late Justice Abdulkadir Orire, who served as the pioneer chairman of the organisation.
Speaking on preparations for this year’s event, Bio announced that the 1448AH Hijrah celebration will take place next Tuesday at the Kwara State Stadium Complex in Ilorin, beginning from 9:00 a.m.
According to him, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is expected to attend the event as the Special Guest of Honour.
The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, will serve as the Royal Father of the Day, while renowned Islamic scholars, including Mustapha Kamaldeen and Adam Habeebullahi Al-Ilory, are also expected to grace the occasion.
The organisers said the event would provide an avenue for Muslims and other residents to reflect on the lessons of Hijrah while promoting faith, unity and moral values within society.
The annual gathering is expected to attract religious leaders, government officials, community stakeholders and thousands of participants from across Kwara State.
