The Kwara State Government has officially taken delivery of 132 housing units under the National Housing Programme Estate in Ogbondoroko, Asa Local Government Area, following the full acquisition of the property from the Federal Government.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed that the state government has fully paid for the estate, describing the move as a strategic step toward reducing the housing deficit and providing affordable accommodation for residents.
The governor, represented at the handover ceremony by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, stated that the estate comprises a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom detached and semi-detached housing units.
“This is another effort to bridge the housing deficit in Kwara State and provide sustainable housing for Kwarans,” he said.
In his remarks, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, noted that the Federal Government initiated the housing scheme to address the nation’s housing shortfall.
He commended the Kwara State Government for acquiring the units for the benefit of the public.
Represented by a Director in the ministry, Architect Musa Abdullahi, the minister also disclosed that the Federal Government is set to commence the construction of a Renewed Housing Estate in Kwara State, adding that necessary contractual processes have been concluded.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, described the handover as a testament to effective collaboration between the federal and state governments.
He praised the Kwara State Government’s proactive efforts in expanding housing access and integrating infrastructure into its broader development agenda.
