The Nigeria Police Force, through INTERPOL NCB Abuja, has extradited Matthew Chukwuemeka Adebiyi to the UK for prosecution.

A statement by the force notes that the move followed a September 2024 request by UK authorities over the 2018 murder of Joshua Boadu.

The suspect reportedly fled to Nigeria after the incident.

He was also accused of trafficking crack cocaine in the UK between 2017 and 2018.

INTERPOL operatives arrested him in Lagos on January 23, 2025, leading to court proceedings. On February 16, 2026, Justice A.O. Faji approved his extradition.

He was handed over to UK officials on April 14, 2026, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, OLATUNJI DISU, says Nigeria will not be a safe haven for criminals.
